The Goat Farm at Ramaz

At an altitude of 900 m, in the hamlet of La Bertinière, (in the district of Hauteville-Lompnes); this charming smallholding has a superb range of farm-made goats’ cheeses.

 

Annie and Olivier Brochet will be delighted to welcome you and your family or group, and they’ll help you discover more about their business, their cheeses and sausages. In the summer you can even try your hand at being a goatherd! 

 

Rates: For families: 2 € per person for the visit and for goat milking.

Several options are possible for groups. Contact us for further information.

GAEC Deux Philéo

"We raise our sheep and other animals with passion and pride, and we take great care in maintaining the best traditional farming methods. We are in the process of converting to organic farming"

 

You will find all kinds of sheep’s cheeses, all ‘home-made’.

Cottage cheese, medium and matures cheeses – Yoghourts – 

Bûchettes – Cœurs – Tommes – Pavés – Dômes - Ronds

 

The shop is open daily from 8am to 5pm.

 

Every day at 18h, you can visit the farm and see the pigs, chickens, and sheep. You can also and watch the sheep being milked.

 

To get here, follow the  Hauteville Road to Tenay then follow the signs for 'fromages' in the direction of Hostiaz.

The Cheesery at Brénod

Sale of Milk, Cream, Butter, Fromage frais, cream cheeses, Comté mild and Comté mature.

Sale of other regional products - Morbier, Raclette, Brie, Tomme, Bleu de Gex, Perrachu, Domaine de Bresse, Le Mont d'Or.

 

Opening Hours

8.45am to 12.15am every day, and 3.30pm to 6:45pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays

2.30pm to 6.45pm on Fridays and Saturdays

 

Visit the exhibition and watch the video show explaining the cheese manufacturing process. Open daily, free entry.

Group visits are possible by appointment. (a minimum of 12 people) 

€ 2 per person (over 14 years)

The milk produced by the GAEC Massonnet herd is transformed into the famous Compté cheese at the Brenod Cheesery.

GAEC Massonnet

Visit the Dairy Farm and discover all about milking cows.

Guided tours of the dairy farm are available. You can join in with the farmers as they feed the cows and milk them. Every day from 5.30pm.

Milk produced by the GAEC Massonnet dairy herd is converted into Comté Cheese at the Brénod Cheesery

On the same farm site, you can take a walk with donkeys, at Marie 'Anes

BEE KEEPING, APIARY

Honey and Gingerbread

Honey, gingerbread, nougat candy, icing, candles, gifts. Direct sales from the beekeeper.

 

 "A professional beekeeper, I have a collection of 200 hives, which are moved from place to place as the seasons change, so I am able to collect honey flavoured by different local flowers."

 

In this small bee farm nestled in the heart of the Bugey mountains, you’ll rediscover the flavors of your childhood: honey, gingerbreads, sweets and soft melting nougat. From the flower to the final harvest, the honey will deliver its secrets aided by Lawrence’s explanations and anecdotes as you visit his shop. 

 

In July / August you can tour the farm and enjoy a delightful moment of conviviality: The doors are also open during the last weekend of April for the regional "Farm to Farm ®" tours.
