Situated between 850 and 1234 meters above sea level, the Plateau d’Hauteville is in the Department de l’Ain, at the southern end of the Jura Mountain range, in the territory of Bugey.

En solo sur le Plateau d'HautevilleClassified as a ‘Tourist resort’ since 1924, Hauteville, on its mid-mountain plateau, offers you a climate and terrain ideally suited to Eco Tourism and open-air activities. The pure air, abundant nature, and well preserved countryside, renews the strength and reoxygenates the lungs at every season of the year, combining Health and Pleasure. Hauteville Plateau offers a wide range of activities – including relaxation, leisure, sport and culture, with something to suit the budget of everyone.

If you’ve come on your own to discover the richness of the Plateau d’Hauteville, you can indulge in a variety of relaxing activities, such as swimming in the open air communal pool, local cinema... You can also profit from a moment of relaxation fishing on the banks of the various lakes, where you might have the chance of catching pike, perch, roach, and trout...

Or you can totally relax; forget the worry and stress of the past year, by trying out all that’s on offer at the fitness centre, spending a pleasant moment in the Sauna or the Turkish Bath. You could also try your luck at the Casino d'Hauteville-Lompnes Casino and have a go  on their 50 slot machines and gaming tables.

Visiting local farms and meeting the farmers is also a good way to discover the varied culture that exists at our mid mountain resort.

You’ll find a large number of sporting activities, which take place in the heart of the countryside. They’ll enable you to discover and appreciate the abundant nature of the Plateau. The many paths and trails for hikers, pony-trekkers, mountain biking and dog sleighs will enable you to explore the numerous forests and admire the local flora and fauna.

Some of the more sportive activities, such as the Bugey Adventure Trail, pony trekking, cycle cross, mountain biking, dog sleighs, rock-climbing or the orientation course, can all be practiced by solo visitors.

The best type of accommodation for a solo stay on the Plateau is often bed and breakfast. You’ll be in direct contact with the local population, and your hosts will do their very best to ensure you appreciate the local gastronomy, as well as offering you a room adapted to your needs. If you prefer a more ‘anonymous’ stay on the Plateau, there are hotels that will cater for your needs with a good quality / price ratio.
